Real Life Lessons

Once every 2 weeks we produce a resource that aptly we call “Real Life Lessons – From Truck Drivers Injured at Work.” This is a unique resource that can either be distributed to each of your drivers or used as content for safety meetings. Each issue provides a brief summary of an actual incident in which a driver was injured, and then discusses some of the lessons learned from that mishap.

Streaming Safety Videos

Midwestern Insurance Alliance has partnered with Wumbmus Corporation to provide streaming safety videos on-demand. As always, access to our video library is completely free for Midwestern’s policyholders.

YouTube Playlists

Safety Meeting Handouts

These resources are intended to be printed and distributed to employees to supplement the spoken content of safety meetings. Although most are oriented toward drivers, some address hazards in the shop/garage and the warehouse.

Safety Devices

Midwestern Insurance Alliance does not sell safety products, but because of our trucking industry focus, our safety consultants are aware of products the are marketed to prevent injuries to professional drivers, mechanics, and warehouse workers. Our “Safety Devices” page should be your first stop if you want to know what products are on the market to address specific injury hazards in the trucking industry. A number of these products are available to policyholders at a discounted rate.

Simulation Training Tools

Spice-up your driver training with these simulation training tools developed by the Trucking Injury Reduction Emphasis (TIRES) of the Washington Department of Labor & Industries. These programs are interactive and use computer-aided graphics to address key issues relevant to driver injury prevention.

Driver Health and Wellness

One of the most significant problems in the trucking industry revolves around the general poor health and physical condition of many professional drivers. The negative impact of poor driver health is far reaching and certainly contributes to the frequency of driver injuries and the speed of recovery. For far too long the trucking industry has turned a blind-eye to the the problem. Driving Healthy is a resource to help trucking companies begin to tackle this issue.
